On 31th Dec. 2003, we have succeeded in localization of Screen for blast furnace #2 at the Kwangyang works. This successful Screen produced is the biggest among POSCO’s Screens currently in use. Equipment descriptions are as follows. 

1) Size : 4000W * 8000L * 3100H

2) Capacity : Max 1150 Ton/Hr 

- OverSize ;15--50m/m - 230Ton/Hr 

- UnderSize ; 0--15m/m - 920Ton/Hr

3) Type: A reverse triangular structure installed with a slope of 4 degree, attached two exciters on the bottom of the screen, which vibrates the body of screen. 

4) Special Features: The biggest screen among the screens used at POSCO. It is a vibrating screen, which utilizes “motion system” with a vibration absorbing spring attached in the upper and lower parts of the sub frame to absorb shocks that may occur during the starting and stopping stage of operation. 

This equipment has been imported from overseas until our successful localization, which occurred at a time when an equipment replacement was desperately needed due to aging of the existing equipments. Therefore, we have contributed to POSCO’s cost reduction by allowing to switch from expensive foreign equipments to domestic ones. This also added to improvement in the production rate by shortening equipment production and repair time.
